At the outer edge of precision.
Aphelion Engineering is an independent software studio building precision tools for the people who do the technical work — engineers, electricians, and consultants — and a handful of apps for everyone else.
The name
Aphelion is the point in an orbit farthest from the sun, where a body moves at its slowest. It is a deliberate choice of metaphor. The work we care about is not the fast part; it is the careful part — the calculation checked against the standard, the reference that has to be right, the number that will be tested against reality. We would rather move at aphelion and be correct.
Who builds it
Aphelion is led by Bijan Adinehpoor, a practising electrical and renewable-energy engineer (BE Hons) on the National Engineering Register. The software is designed and checked by someone who has sat on the other side of it — sizing a cable that has to pass inspection, signing a report whose numbers will be scrutinised, reaching for a tool at the panel with a meter in one hand and a phone in the other. That perspective is the whole point: nothing ships unless it would hold up in the field.
The studio is registered as Aphelion Engineering Pty Ltd, an Australian proprietary company based in Perth, Western Australia.
What we build
Two tracks, one standard of care:
- Precision tools for the trades and the technical — web platforms like ampacities.com and the forthcoming hazcities, and iOS field tools like FieldReg, built to the letter of AS/NZS and IEC.
- A handful of apps for everyone else — Pour, Golden Wattle, Overpass, and Heliograph: small, honest apps that respect your attention, your privacy, and your time.
How we work
We build for precision without friction — calculations that pass review, references that load on a poor connection, interfaces that respect the time of someone doing real work. Nothing here is generative; nothing here is approximate. Either it is right against the standard, or it is not shipped.
Our apps collect as little as possible — most collect nothing at all. No accounts where we can avoid them, no trackers, no dark patterns. We are an independent studio. We are not venture-funded. We answer to the work.
