I don’t see any passes — what’s wrong?
Overpass needs to know where you are and needs orbital data. First, allow location when prompted, or tap “Enter coordinates manually” and type any latitude and longitude.
Second, the very first time you open the app it downloads public orbital data over the internet, so make sure you’re online for that initial refresh. After that, predictions work offline.
How does Overpass work?
Overpass downloads public satellite orbital element sets and then does all the math on your device using a built-in propagator, verified against the standard reference test vectors. No server computes anything for you, and nothing about you is sent anywhere.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the first data refresh, all pass predictions run entirely on your device — no connection required. Refresh occasionally to keep the orbital data current.
Do I need to share my location?
No. Location makes things effortless, but you can decline it and enter your coordinates manually instead. Either way, your location never leaves your device.
What is “Overpass Unlimited”?
A single one-time purchase (no subscription) that unlocks the full experience: every Starlink train, all bright-satellite passes, and a custom minimum-elevation filter. Your next visible pass is always free to see.
I bought Overpass Unlimited on another device — how do I get it here?
Open Settings inside the app and tap “Restore Purchases.” Your one-time unlock will be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple Account. No login or account is needed.
How accurate are the times?
Pass times are computed from the latest public orbital data and are typically accurate to within a minute. Satellites do manoeuvre, so refresh the data before a pass you really care about for the best accuracy.
Is my data private?
Completely. Overpass collects nothing — no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no ads, no third-party SDKs. See our Privacy Policy for details.
