These terms govern your use of the Golden Wattle iOS app ("Golden Wattle", "the app"), published by Aphelion Engineering Pty Ltd (ACN 697 870 812 · ABN 19 697 870 812), an Australian proprietary company based in Perth, Western Australia. In these terms, "we", "us", and "our" refer to Aphelion Engineering Pty Ltd. By downloading or using the app, you accept these terms.
1. What Golden Wattle is
Golden Wattle is a study aid that helps you prepare for the Australian citizenship test. It is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Australian Government or the Department of Home Affairs. The app's practice questions and explanations are based on the publicly available "Our Common Bond" resource book, with source attribution and licensing described below.
2. No guarantee of results
Golden Wattle is designed to help you prepare, but it does not guarantee that you will pass. The official citizenship test is conducted by the Department of Home Affairs, and its content, format, and requirements may differ from the app and may change over time. We maintain the app's content with reasonable care, but we do not warrant that it is complete, current, or free of errors.
3. Premium purchases
Premium is available through a weekly auto-renewable subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Both unlock all 250 practice questions, every study mode, all supported languages and unlimited mock tests. The study guide remains free.
- Weekly price — A$1.99 per week in Australia. The App Store price displayed in your local currency at purchase applies.
- Free trial — eligible new subscribers receive 14 days free on the weekly plan. Apple determines eligibility, and the app shows a trial only when it is available to you. You are not charged during the free trial.
- Automatic renewal — after the trial, your Apple Account is charged the displayed weekly price automatically until you cancel. If you are not eligible for a trial, payment is charged at confirmation of purchase. Renewal charges may occur within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Cancellation — manage or cancel in your App Store account settings. To avoid a charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or current billing period ends. Paid access continues until the end of the paid period; Apple may end a cancelled free trial immediately.
- Lifetime — A$9.99 once in Australia, or the price displayed in your local currency. This non-consumable purchase unlocks Premium without recurring charges or a subscription expiry. Restore it on a compatible device using the same Apple Account.
- Switching to Lifetime — buying Lifetime does not cancel an existing weekly subscription. Cancel the weekly subscription in App Store settings to stop its renewal charges.
- Purchases and refunds — Apple processes payments and refunds under Apple's terms. The app does not receive your payment details.
The app is licensed under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA). These product terms supplement that agreement and do not limit mandatory consumer rights.
4. Intellectual property
The Golden Wattle software, its design, and our original explanatory content are owned by Aphelion Engineering Pty Ltd. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own study, subject to the rights in third-party licensed material described below.
Some study material is adapted from Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond (testable section), © Commonwealth of Australia 2020, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International. The Commonwealth Coat of Arms is excluded from that licence. Source material is available from the Department of Home Affairs. Changes and translations are identified in the app's attribution; they are independent study aids and do not imply government endorsement.
Our proprietary software and original contributions are distinct from third-party licensed material. Nothing in these terms limits rights granted under CC BY 4.0 or another applicable third-party licence. You may reuse licensed material under its applicable licence, including its attribution requirements. Where our restrictions conflict with rights granted for that material, the applicable third-party licence prevails for that material.
5. Acceptable use
Use Golden Wattle lawfully. Restrictions on reverse engineering, decompilation, resale, sublicensing or redistribution apply only to the extent permitted by law and do not restrict rights in third-party material granted by its applicable licence, or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Golden Wattle is provided on an "as is" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable mandatory consumer protection legislation.

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia.
